The road ended at the narrowest part of the lake, it was about 1 km across. San Paulo was on one side and San Pedro on the other. We paid to take a boat ride across, it was an old wooden boat the had rotting floor boards. The captian was a grouchy old salt that made us wait while he tried to get more customers for the already full boat, there was a lot of yelling in Spanish between the captain and the other people on the boat before he finally gave in and took us across the lake. We explored the small town then returned to the other side and drove back to La Paz.

Isla Mujeres 2009
Isla was quickly going from a tropical paradise to a tropical prison. I could not dive, I could not snorkel, or even hang out on the beach. I could not even rent a golf cart and explored the island because I would have gotten drenched. I was going stir crazy and I had to get off the island.
Puerto Morelos or Mayan Adventure Week 2009
The dive site is in between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen meaning it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. There was not another dive boat in site when we hit the water and it was obvious by the pristine coral formations that this site was not frequented by divers.
Missing Isla or Our Vacation in Puerto Aventuras 2009
Lou seemed to be heading away from the exit deeper into the cenote, then he was gone. I thought about chasing Lou but decided that one lost diver was enough and returned to the rest of the group. I realized that this part of the cave was pitch black and the meager beam of light was barely enough to light my way, and it the flashlight died I would be screwed.
Salt Lake City 2009
We traversed to the bowl and I discovered on my fist cut that my legs were already at lunch, I missed the cut and picked up speed and I flew down the hill with my arms waving in the air.
I eventually gained control and almost finished the run without wiping out. I caught an edge when I hit the flats and did a less than spectacular wipeout
Isla Mujeres- Whale Sharks- June 2008
The boat pulls in front of the whale shark as you, your wife and the guide perch on the side of the boat holding your fins out of the water. The captain tells you when to jump. The whale shark looks like he is barely moving through the water, but as you try to keep pace with them you realize you have to swim at full speed and the sharks is still leaving you in his wake.
Portland Maine 2008
We took the harbor tour in the afternoon. It was well worth the money. The captain was very funny and informative. We got a close up look at several lighthouses and the fort that is located in the middle of the harbor. I highly recommend the trip if you are in Portland.
Salt Lake City 2008
Growing up in Minnesota I did not get a chance to ski deep powder, Snowbird got dumped on Friday and there was still plenty of untracked powder to ski on. Unfortunately, skiing knee-deep powder is hard. We still had a great time.
Key West 2007
I decided to hit the big tourist bar, Sloppy Joe’s. I had been there many years ago, but it was in the afternoon and it was pretty dead. Not so last night. The place was packed and it was hopping. It was an interesting crowd. When I walked in there was a gentleman leaning up against the bar with his eyes closed, passed out or sleeping, you choose. From time to time he would start to slip to one side or the other and he would open his eyes, stand up straight and close his eyes again.
Isla Mujeres 2007
The best ambiance was at Casa O’s, it is an open-air restaurant located on the ocean. YOu could see Cancun from our table.
