Jan 21 to Feb 4 2022 Getting There This airfare to Playa (CUN) was probably the cheapest I have paid in more than fifteen years. I originally paid $280 but I had to change my flight so the price went up to $300. Immigration was busy because it is high season but the line moved…

Traveling Again- Playa and Pto Morelos 2021
Finally traveling again. The last time I flew internationally was to Playa late October through early November 2019. It was my favorite Playa vacation and I have had many. I had a weird experience as I was leaving Playa to go back to the airport. As the van pulled away from the condo I was excited to return to Playa but I had a weird feeling that it might not be as soon as I hoped…I seriously had that thought.
Playa and Tulum 2019- Bull Shark Dive
Hugo let the current take us closer to shore and we stopped at a depth of fifty five feet. There was a fair amount of current so I dug the ends of my fins into the sand to anchor me. I was scanning the ocean bottom when Hugo pointed behind me. There was a bull shark swimming towards my back- I felt the rollercoaster plummet down the first drop.
Playa del Carmen October 2018
I did the shark dive for the first time in 2013 and it was amazing but scary as hell. I decided to do it again this year.
Playa del Carmen 2017

Tulum, Playa and Mahahual 2016
I was at the dive shop by 5:30 for the night dive. I was diving with a German couple. The night dive was part of the advancaed open water certification for her.
Tulum and Playa del Carmen 2014
I still like Playa. The beach, the restaurants, the bars and the diving, it’s all good. However, I have been to Playa enough times in the last several years that I think I need a change. I have dived all of the dive sites at least several times.
Playa del Carmen
When the waiter delivered our meal he pointed at the habanero peppers and said cuidado which literally translates to watch out. That made me worry. It was the hottest meal I’ve ever had. I had to drink three beers to keep the flames in my mouth at a tolerable level. Karen and I were sweating, our eyes were watering and our noses were running but it was the best meal we had in Playa.
Play del Carmen and the Bull Shark Dive
Octavio had to fend off a shark with the fish bucket again. It swam directly at him and he used the bucket to keep the shark away. It retreated but did not appear to be happy with Octavio.
Playa Del Carmen 2012
We approached the boat from the bow, swam along the starboard side and entered the wreck from the stern. We swam through twice. There were thousands of tiny fish taking cover inside the wreck. After we swam through the second time we approached the bow of the boat. There was a large sea turtle eating sponges on top of the cabin of the boat.
